Carl the Cat – Amigurumi Crochet Pattern

Materials

  • Yarn/wool: I have used Catania yarn from Schachenmayr in white (0106 < 50g), grey (0393 < 50g), pink (0246 < 50g) and Brazilia yarn from Schachenmayr in grey (00092 < 50 g) color.
  • Crochet hook: 3.0 mm
  • Tapestry needle
  • Filling
  • Scissors
  • Two 6 mm black safety eyes

Important Notes

  • All rounds are worked in a continuous spiral (except nose). Do not join or turn, unless instructed otherwise
  • You may find it useful to use a stitchmarker for counting your rounds
  • While stuffing take care to give each part a nice shape

Start stuffing the body and keep on stuffing while crocheting.

Close the hole by leading the thread through the front loops of last round, pull it tight and weave the yarn tail into the head.

Snout

With white yarn:

Embroider the snout with grey Catania yarn. The snout is formed by one big stitch. For exact place and position see pictures above. Pull the yarn tight and repeat this stitch a few times.

Nose

The nose is crocheted in rows.

With pink yarn:

slst along the next 2 sides of the triangle. FO. Leave a long yarn tail.

Sew the nose with invisible stitches to the snout. See pictures for the exact place. Hide the yarn tail in the snout.

Eyes

Eyeballs with white Catania yarn (make 2):

slst in next stitch, FO. Leave a long yarn tail for sewing it to the head.

Insert the black safety eyes into the eyeballs (see pictures above). Sew the eyes with invisible stitches to the body/head. For the exact place see the pictures below. Eyes do not need to be stuffed.

Stuff the foot.

Close the hole by leading the thread through the front loops of last round, pull it tight and weave the yarn tail into the foot.

Create the 3 toes with 2 big grey stitches. See the exact place and position on the pictures above. Pull it a bit and hide the yarn tail in the foot.

Embroider a pink patch on each sole.

Sew to the feet with invisible stitches to the body. Try to find the proper place for the feet in order to create a sitting position.

Tail

With grey Brazilia yarn:

Comb the body and tail to get the fuzz from inside out.
