Frank the Frog – Amigurumi Crochet Pattern
Materials
- Yarn/wool: I have used Catania yarn from Schachenmayr in green (0212 < 50g), light green (0205 < 50g), red (0115 < 50g) and white (0106 < 50g) color.
- Crochet hook: 3.0 mm
- Tapestry needle
- Filling
- Scissors
- Two 6 mm black safety eyes
Abbreviations
st(s) – stitch(es)
ch – chain
slst – slip stitch
sc – single crochet
inc – increase (2 sc in next st)
dec – decrease (2 sc worked off together)
(nr) – indicates the total number of stitches in the current row/round
FO – fasten off
Important Notes
- All rounds are worked in a continuous spiral (except belly, feet and legs). Do not join or turn, unless instructed otherwise
- You may find it useful to use a stitchmarker for counting your rounds
- While stuffing take care to give each part a nice shape

Weave the yarn tail into the body.
Eyes
Eyeballs with white yarn (make 2):
Round 1. 6 sc in double adjustable ring (6)
Round 2. (sc, inc)* (9)

Insert the black safety eyes into the eyeball. For the exact place see the pictures above.
Round 5. (sc, dec)* (6)
Close the hole by leading the thread through the front loops of last round, pull it tight and weave the yarn tail into the eye.
Eye sockets with green yarn (make 2):
Round 1. 6 sc in double adjustable ring (6)
Round 2. inc* (12)
Round 3. (3 sc, inc)* (15)
Round 4. – Round 5. sc* (15)
slst in next stitch. FO. Leave a long yarn tail. Insert the eyeball into the eye socket, fix its position with a few invisible stitches. Sew the eye sockets to the head.
Tummy and mouth
With light green yarn:
Tummy is crocheted in rows.
Round 1. 3 sc in double adjustable ring, ch 1, turn (3)
Round 2. 3 inc, ch1, turn (6)
Round 3. (sc, inc) 3-times, ch1, turn (9)
Round 4. (2 sc, inc) 3-times, ch1, turn (12)
Round 5. (3 sc, inc) 3-times, ch1, turn (15)
Round 6. (4 sc, inc) 3-times (18)
Leave a long yarn tail and sew it with invisible stitches to the body. The upper side of it will form the mouth. In order to ensure that the mouth opens a little, place your stitches as it is shown with red color on the picture below.

Legs
Legs with green yarn (make 4):
Legs are crocheted in rows.
Row 1. ch 15 (15)
Row 2. starting at 2nd chain from hook: 4 slst (see pictures below) (4)
Row 3. ch 5 (5)
Row 4, starting at 2nd chain from hook: 4 slst (see pictures below) (4)
Row 5. ch 5 (5)
Row 6. starting at 2nd chain from hook: 4 slst, continue into the next
stitches of the starting foundation chain: 10 slst, sc (14)
FO and leave a long yarn tail for sewing it to the body.
Bend the legs a bit in the middle, as you see on the picture below.
Sew the hindlegs and the forelegs to the body. For exact place and position see pictures below.
Freckles
Embroider some freckles with light green yarn on the body.
Heart
First part with red yarn:
Round 1. 6 sc in double adjustable rin g (6)
Round 2. inc* (12)
Round 3. – Round 4. sc* (12)
FO and weave in the yarn end.
Second part with red yarn:
Round 1. 6 sc in double adjustable ring (6)
Round 2. inc* (12)
Round 3. sc* (12)
In next round the two pieces are crocheted together (see pictures above):
Round 4. 10 sc, align the first part with this one, insert hook through first and second
part stitches: 2 sc (12)
Round 5. 20 sc around (= 10 sc in free remaining stitches of first part, 10 sc in free
remaining stitches of second part) (20)
Crochet 1 sc and move your stitch marker to this point. The starting points of the upcoming rounds are shifted this way.
Round 6. (8 sc, dec)* (18)

Start stuffing and keep on stuffing while crocheting.

FO and hide the yarn tail in the heart. Fix the heart with some sewing thread to the body and sew the arm around the heart. For exact place and position see pictures.
